Biostatistics
The Biostatistics department at Rockefeller University Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is an integral part of the CCTS research infrastructure. It provides biostatistical and data science support to advance outstanding translational science. The department offers biostatistics consultations to assist researchers in study design, statistical analysis, publication of clinical and translational studies, and more.
- Biostatistics faculty collaborate with investigators across a broad range of fields, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurology, and infectious diseases.
- The department provides statistical support for various types of studies, including basic and preclinical science experiments, clinical trials, observational studies, and research involving big data from electronic health records.
- Areas of expertise include machine learning methods, time-to-event modeling, multivariate statistics, and analysis of correlated data.
- The department contributes to training the next generation of clinical research investigators through workshops and one-on-one consults in study design, sample size and power calculations, statistical analysis methods, and software packages.
The Biostatistics department works closely with other research-focused departments and resources, including the Clinical Research Support Office, Hospital Informatics, and Research Bioinformatics. This integration allows for comprehensive support of clinical and translational research across the institution, ensuring high standards of scientific design and integrity in research conducted at Rockefeller University.
